Is that an alder or an ash? Is it a spruce or a fir? Even many adults are always unsure of how to identify typical native tree species. At school, children learn a lot about trees and their leaves. But it is quite difficult to remember whether the leaf edge of a tree is serrated, dentated or serrulated and what else is typical of let’s say a beech. Roland Bock, primary school teacher and genuine tree expert, shows the children in a very simple and scaled-down way what is special about each tree, enabling them to remember it. He succeeds in teaching them at least one typical feature for each tree that they will never forget. A quiz at the end of the book and 14 removable information cards on the individual tree species to take into the forest or park help to consolidate what has been learned and to check it in the field.
