Filson Dry Tin Cruiser Jacket

The Cruiser Jacket epitomises the ultimate classic from Filson. Patented in 1914, this jacket was specially developed for foresters who explored the terrain ahead of the logging crews. Initially made from warm Mackinaw wool, it was available either as a pullover or a jacket with a button placket. This was soon followed by the waxed cotton version with double-layer sleeves and shoulder sections for additional water protection. The waxed canvas served as an alternative to wool, especially in the adverse conditions of wetness, mud and dense brush.In the 1970s, Filson introduced a version that was treated for water resistance but not waxed - and now it's back! The Dry Tin Cruiser Jacket offers the same protection against wind, abrasion and undergrowth as the original, but is specially designed for drier conditions and has increased breathability compared to the waxed version.The Cruiser Jacket is equipped with four cargo pockets with flaps at the front, with the lower side pockets concealed. There is a multi-layer utility pocket on the left side of the chest and an open storage pocket on the inside. The pockets have a flat design to prevent them from getting caught in waistcoats, equipment or thick undergrowth worn over them. The back is double-layered to create a continuous pocket across the entire width, in which foresters could store their maps and surveying documents. This bag offers enough space for gloves, hat, dog lead or similar items. The front fastening, adjustable cuffs and pocket flaps are secured with robust metal press studs.
