Vegetable tanning

For vegetable-tanned leather, vegetable tanning agents are used. These leathers are low in harmful substances and are particularly preferred by people with a chromium sensitivity. Oak and spruce bark, but also quebracho wood, tara pods, olive leaves, rhubarb root and mimosa bark are used for tanning. The tanning process is initiated by the released tannins.
